Nationally recognized businessman Richard Liu

Richard Liu is the founder and CEO of JD.com, one of China’s largest online retailers. He has grown his company from a start-up to an e-commerce giant with over $6 billion in annual sales by focusing on customer service and building partnerships with international brands and local Chinese manufacturers. In 2013, he was named “the most influential person” in the world by Fortune magazine for his role at JD.com and other business ventures outside of retailing, such as film production and financial services companies helping diversify the business.

He was also arrested in Minneapolis during a University of Minnesota student recruitment trip after being accused of sexual misconduct stemming from an incident and released shortly after without charge or further action.

Richard Liu has been described as the “richest man you’ve never heard of” by Forbes following his rapid rise to success with JD.com. Still, he plans to use this newfound wealth to invest heavily into other sectors such as film production and financial services companies that are helping diversify the business. He was dubbed Asia’s most eligible bachelor by the New York Times in 2016 after being divorced from his former wife and gaining custody of their two young children.

His company JD.com has quickly become one of China’s largest online retailers with over $20 billion in annual sales by focusing on customer service and building partnerships with international brands and local Chinese manufacturers. In 2013, he was named “the most influential person” in the world by Fortune Magazine for his role at JD.com and other business ventures outside of retailing such as film production and financial services companies that are helping to diversify the business, but also because he is known for being arrested during a University of Minnesota student recruitment trip accused of sexual misconduct stemming from an incident then released after that without charge or further action.
